Things Have Gone to Pieces
What will the world be like when we are gone?
As soon as I heard the haunting strains of George Jones' classic western song "Things Have Gone to Pieces" I immediately saw images in my head of the ruins of our civilization just decades after humans had vanished. And just as we continue to thrive here on earth, there are still reminders of the 1965 world in which George Jones sang the song. Crumbling farm houses, abandoned mines, old drive in theaters. Still the mountains remain more or less unchanged and indifferent to our brief stay here. This is my meditation on the artifacts we will leave behind.
I filmed every single shot of this in Colorado on an old Canon 7D (it's already an artifact). It took me just over a year to find all of these places and even now that I've finished I see new artifacts almost every day.
